Smile

Born in China, Smile began playing the flute at age seven and quickly developed a passion for it. By age nine, she had completed the Level 8 exam and then moved to Vancouver. There, she continued her flute studies under Paul Hung at the Vancouver Academy of Music and actively participated in various bands, orchestras, and competitions. She served as both the principal and second flute in the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra for six years and has performed professionally with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra as the second flute and piccolo player starting from 2023-2024 season. Smile has been featured multiple times as a winner at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, Performing Arts BC, and the Canada West Performing Arts Festival. Smile also pursues her passion for chamber music as a member of the Moonlight Quartet at the Vancouver Academy of Music. She is currently studying flute performance under Christie Reside at the University of British Columbia.
